Skirting Around The Edges - Dolly June 1982

Okay so clearly I'm obsessed with 1982!  The fleecy skirt looks here so remind me of Bananarama - in their early years of course, and especially when they worked with Fun Boy Three (love that band).  The red ruffly top by Jonathan Elliot in the fourth picture I would love to own, and I really like the shoes by Coral Lea.

Along Party Lines - Dolly January 1982

A faaaaaabulous 1982 party dress feature here featuring lots of drop-waisted dresses, taffeta and harem style pants.   So so so adorable.  I love the layout of the pages with the rips and the streamer picture reminds me so much of Clare Grogan of Altered Images!  I actually have a dress very similar to the bow one ... I must check the label to see if it's by 'Pipps' as well.

Here's Lucy - Dolly Magazine December 1989

It's been quite a while since I've posted some late 80's Dolly editorials, and I've been meaning to post this I Love Lucy inspired one for ages!  It's so fabulous - from the furniture, through to every last detail including the clothing credits being displayed in the fashion of the popular sunburst clocks of the 50's.

Fiorucci Advertisement - Vogue Australia September 1978

A really cool, colourful, fun and above all characteristically Fiorucci advertisement from 1978.  As I don't think we have Fiorucci here at all in Australia, I had a look at their website (linked above) and saw that they're pretty much staying true to that aesthetic to this day.  It's kinda cool to see they're doing a collaboration with Ikea - and have a range of ice-cream lamps that I would loooove to own, but alas...

Jungle Prints On The Prowl - Vogue Australia November 1980

A jungle-riffic spread featuring Sue Smithers as one of the models (with the beauty spot), I'm not sure who the others are unfortunately.  My favourite image is the little picture of the Prue Acton Girl Friday dress in the bottom right hand corner of the last image.

Re-Vamping The Wardrobe - POL Magazine June 1979

Photography Pierre Vauthey
This fashion spread reminds me a lot of the English Blitz Kids kind of look with their glamorous attire, make-up and pill-box hats.  Especially that shot of the leopard suit - which by the way is cut in quite a timeless way and doesn't look as dated as the pleated lamé pants (although I kinda like them too).  The annoying thing is that none of the clothes or the models are credited!  If anyone has any information, I'd love to know.

Erupting Into Summer - POL Magazine October 1979

Photographer Gilbert Rossi
Model Belinda Seper

I am a huge fan of space-age stylings, and this spread is certainly one to add to the collection.  Shot by Gil Gilbert in the stunning surrounds of Hawaii, it provides for a stark, almost apocalyptic vision of the future filled with neon leotards and barren wasteland.

It's Surreal Thing - POL Magazine August 1979

Here is a spread that blew me away when I first saw it, and still does.  The majority of the clothes are from Flamingo Park - a label by Jenny Kee and Linda Jackson.  I adore Jenny Kee and made sure I bought some of the products she made for Target not long ago including a really cool black and white doona cover.  I'm not sure who the models are, that is except for Deborah Hutton in the Roller Game shot which is so so cool!
