  3. Oh WOW! The short haired model in the first four shots is none other than British model Jeny Howorth. She went to become one of the top international models of the mid '80s and was the Agyness Deyn of her day, short platinum crop and all!- which she got about 5 years after this very early spread. She was on many covers of British and French Elle, a favourite of American Elle and top photographer Steven Meisel for a time...She also starred in a famous Valentino ad campaign back in 1986-87. (I remember it was quite shocking for such a conservative label as Valentino at the time, because of her super-short platinum crop. Nowadays of course, nobody would blink an eye!)

    2. My pleasure! I started collecting magazines (overseas as well as local) in the early '80s and love that era, so your blog is such a treat!
Dolly was especially good back then, and I'm sure I posted this before, but that era's Dolly actually inspired a fantastic US mag called 'Sassy' in the late '80s, and the legendary 'Jane' magazine later on. 'Pol' was also way ahead of its time. It kinda was the precursor to 'Wallpaper' and all those cross-disciplinary style mags that are around today. I still have some of my copies from that era and they look so luxurious compared to any modern mag out there. I also adored FollowMe...another Aussie mag that was way ahead of its time. I also share your passion for the New Romantics. My closest friend was a designer back then known for bringing that look to the mainstream in Australia and I just love his stories of that time. Love your blog...keep posting!!!
