White Nights - Dolly November 1987
I am a HUGE fan of everything ballet and ballet influenced, and really adore this spread, as photographed by Andrew Southam. The bubble skirt dress paired with over the knee socks is so quintessentially 1987 - and makes me think of Kylie Minogue on the Got To Be Certain single cover.

Well Suited - Dolly April 1987
A new post! Hurrah! Here is a Chanel inspired fashion spread from Dolly, April 1987 featuring the lovely Alison Brahe. My favourite look has to be the third image from the top - that Abyss dress and the styling is top notch for me.

Koala Shoes Advertisement - Dolly November 1987
This ad just screams the 80's! From the shoes with cutout shapes, to the pastel pink boom-box, to the kid posing with the sunglasses, I mean what's not to like?!

Esprit Advertisement - Dolly January 1987
A vibrant Esprit advertisement (seeing as whenever I post Esprit ads, they are always so popular) featuring Carla McCrie, a 17 year old student. I love bold colours of knits layered and contrasted with each other. It is a good good look indeed.

Bleach Baby - Dolly June 1987
Here's a Fashion Workshop feature instructing on bleaching denim for some double denim outfits. I absolutely love the bandana from Sportsgirl styled to look like a cap, and also the denim baker boy cap in the cover shot. I'm not sure who the model is unfortunately, if anyone can ID her please leave a comment.

K-Mart Hi-Time Fashion Advertisement - Dolly October 1987
A cute little ad showcasing a range of watches at K-Mart (some looking remarkably like copies of Swatches...). This came from the October issue of Dolly from 1987.

Brian Rochford Australia Advertisement - Dolly November 1987
I have had a bit of a hiatus from regular posting as I've had a bit of a dry spell with the magazines I have, but thanks to a lovely person contacting me, I now have every issue besides about two from 1980 through until 1987 and I have so many issues to pore through!
So here is a little post to tide you over, with the lovely Alison Brahe modelling for Brian Rochford Australia. I have quite a few pics of Alison Brahe and I'm thinking it might be time for another Alison post soon!

French Dressing - Dolly September 1987

Another fantastic spread featuring Emma Balfour with photography by Grant Matthews. Emma Balfour definitely suits the French theme and I particularly like the shot by the vintage bar. The shot where she's wearing the Lindy Lane ra-ra skirt is gorgeous as well - hmmm I've never seen anyone look that good at my supermarket!

Lindy Lane Advertisement - Dolly July 1987
I think I remember this ad from back when ... but what I definitely do know, is that I emulated this look around this time - the whole ra-ra skirt paired with bike shorts look. I probably was highly influenced by the Locomotion video clip by Kylie Minogue as well though - actually that would have been my main influence as I was obsessed with Kylie and Jason at this time.

Animal Magnetism fashion spread Photography Grant Matthews |
It seems I've caught Alison Brahe fever! She looks quite fresh faced and timeless on this cover, the velvet bow is from Sportsgirl, and it's funny to see how du jour these headbands are at the moment, and often credited to Gossip Girl as the origin of the trend - I think not! Actually it probably went even further back to the 1930's or the 1940's I am thinking.
I love this fashion spread, although I had to do a little retouching to the cover and the spread itself as there was some extensive discolouration and creases. I tried my best, and hope it's not too obvious.
