Inner City Blues - Dolly June 1986

I haven't done a mid 80's post for quite a while so here we have a denim themed spread for 1986 Dolly.  Featuring models Amanda, Sibyl and Anna-Louise Gould wearing a whole lotta double denim!  Photography by the inimitable Graham Shearer - enjoy!

  1. :O Yay back to the 80s!! I remember these models so well. I also remember traipsing through op shops to find the perfect denim jacket. In fact I'm thankful Dolly promoted op shopping as I would never have been able to afford anything while still at school.

    1. Yeah they did use a lot of op-shops in their spreads - and that was back waaaay before it was cool too!

  2. The first 2 images (esp the 2nd) look really 80s but the Cons with the minis and cut offs would fit in well now.

    1. Yeah you're totally right, the looks are pretty much timeless, but at the same time, I don't find them quite as exciting as the early 80's Dolly images.

  3. Double denim, I wore that to uni in the winter of 1986. The Boyproof denim slash jeans and the denim skirt were by Leona Edmiston and Peter Morrissey. They had a shop in the Strand Arcade and Leona worked in the shop. My 2 sisters and I bought the denim skirt and shared it !! I still buy Leona Edmiston dresses.

    1. How cool, love hearing these kind of stories. So she worked in the store at that time, that's cool, especially seeing as she certainly isn't working in them now I wouldn't think.

  5. Ah more goodness from my days at DOLLY. This was shot in Kings cross in the foundations of the building next to the coke sign over the tunnel. Bugsy would shoot up to 10 rolls of film per shot and my job beside being fashion assistant was to edit the film :-)
