Altered Images - Dolly November 1983

What an absolute gem of a spread this is, featuring models dressed as the pop/rock stars of the day.  Make-up funnily enough is by the Blitz Kid herself Kim Bowen who actually hung out with Boy George, and probably with many others featured in this too!  I really love the make up job for the Bananarama image as they did do the whole orange eyeshadow thing so it is really on point.  Also of course my favourite HAS to be the Culture Club girl - she is just so so adorable.  All of them are just so cute though, so it's hard to pick favourites.  Hope you enjoy this one!

Bustles 'n' Bows - Dolly September 1986

Seeing as it's now the beginning of Autumn here in Australia, I thought this soft and dreamy Fashion Workshop spread featuring bows and bustles would be apt.  It's so soft and feminine and kinda reminds me of British pop stars Pepsi and Shirley.  Hope everyone had a fantastic Easter !!

Vivian Chan-Shaw - The Great Aussie Fashion 1984-1985

Hope you enjoy this feature from the fantastic book The Great Aussie Fashion on Vivian Chan-Shaw - another Australian fashion designer featured in this book who is an icon of the industry.  My favourite look from this spread has to be the second image - it's so avant-garde.

The other fabulous feature from the spread is that her daughter Claudia Chan-Shaw is modelling - and I guess most Australian's will recognise her from the ABC television show Collectors.  I always thought she was stunning on that show with her Louise Brooks bob, and this feature shows she has always been gorgeous.

Parakeet by Robyn Lambert - The Great Aussie Fashion 1984-1985

I just picked up this faaabulous book called 'The Great Aussie Fashion: Australian Fashion Designers 1984-1985 from Savers for $10 the other day.  I actually saw it at an op-shop about a decade ago and stupidly didn't buy it as back then cool books like this were a dime a dozen.  However as more and more people go op-shopping, these treasures are few and far between.  Anyway, it's a very thick book and showcases so many fantastic Australian designers, and here is a gorgeous spread by Robyn Lambert for her Parakeet line.  The first image is breathtaking.  Enjoy!

I Should Be So Lucky - Dolly September 1991

I love love love the pastel ice-cream colours in this spread popping out from the black and white image - so iconic.  Photography by Andrew Southam and unfortunately the model is not credited.  Favourite image has to be the close up of the Ray-Ban-esque sunglasses and the Madonna style head wrap.
