South Pacific Advertisements - 1982

Dolly Magazine August 1982
Dolly Magazine September 1982
Here's a couple of advertisements for clothing label South Pacific, I don't know much about them except that their wares featured heavily within the pages of Dolly during 1982 and that their ads are cute.  I'm not sure of the models names, but I think one of them was either Melanie or Melissa and another was in Dolly a lot.  I wonder which came first - the label or the song by the amazing Australian band The Dugites....

Greek Goddess - Dolly October 1990

October 1990
Models Alison Jones & Alison Brahe
Photography Michael Schenko

I don't think I've scanned in this cover before, and it is far too cute to leave unseen!  I quite like this lurex and lamé themed spread set in picturesque Greece.  Styled by Carlotta Moye and with photography by Michael Schenko, some of the outfits kinda remind me of Prince - and that's a good thing!

Aztec - Dolly April 1986

April 1986
Model Stephanie Browne
Photography Bill Ling

Apologies for the not so good state the cover image is in, but I thought it was worth scanning in, given the fantastic spread this Aztec feature is.  Again, I do love a bold colour, and there is a lot of colour clashing going on and layering of knits (can't wait for Winter to truly kick in so I can throw on all my woolies).

Racey Ladies - Dolly October 1980

October 1980
Model Melissah Hannan
Photography John Pinfold

I suppose I should have posted this spread during the Grand Prix that was on in Melbourne recently (which I actually am not into at all) but if it looked like this I think I'd like it!  It's jump suit mania in this feature, with a lot of Ojay wares on show.

Calypso Capers - Dolly September 1982

A simply stunning editorial with a mixture of drawings and photography showcasing the Calypso themed fashions.  I am a huge fan of frills, and these pictures encompass everything I love.  Soo sooo cute!

Hot Stuff - Dolly May 1982

I've kinda been obsessed with knicker-bockers lately (even though I don't own a pair - not sure if they're flattering for a short person like myself) in case you've been wondering why all the knicker-bockers in spreads recently.  I noticed that a lot of the threads here are from Ojay which is still going strong unlike many of the other labels of this time.  Love the winter clothes contrasted with summer visuals as I personally haaaate summer.

Saturdy Night's All Right For Raging - Dolly May 1982

May 1982
Model Melissah Hannan
Photography John Pinfold

A really cool, fun and quirky mini two-page fashion spread coming from one of the daggiest Dolly covers I own!  That perm is not a good one, but it is charming in its own daggy, sweet and innocent way.  I think this spread is from the same photo shoot as the Throwaway Fashion one from the December 1981 issue as it features the same models and similar vibrant styling with photography credited to Freundin.

Let it Rip - Dolly December 1982

December 1982
Model Toni O'Donoghue (Leichner Cover Girl Winner)
Photography Bob Donaldson

The photography in this let it Rip spread is credited to Hans Feurer (a very intimidating sounding name) and it is just fab!  It's kinda like 101 ways to wear a T-shirt with so many inventive ideas!  I can't say I've seen this look recycled at all as compared with a lot of other supremely 80's looks ... I'd like the torn cottons to do a bit of a revival... hmmm on second thoughts maybe not, as revivals usually end up a cheap and pale imitation from the original anyway.
