Suntan Vs. Reef Tan Advertisement - Dolly December 1983
By request, here is take 2 of the suntan vs. Reef tan advertisement spread. I think this is the one that was in the pages of Dolly a lot during the early 80's and not the other one. And in this one, those with the so called 'suntan' actually look better in my opinion than their oiled up counterparts. That guy with the goggles looks pretty serious about the big debate though.

Reef Tan Advertisement - Dolly December 1982
This is one of those ads that appeared in almost every Dolly issue during the early 80's. It's just so funny how it tries to depict the couple without the Reef tan as dorky whereas those with the glistening Reef tans are having the time of their lives! I like how obvious advertising was back then actually!

Brian Rochford Advertisement - Dolly September 1986
Following from the previous post, I found another fabulous Brian Rochford ad - this time from 1986. I love the pop art influenced wind cheater with the freestyle Reebok aerobics sneakers (I managed to buy a pair of similar ones a few years ago when they re-issued them but with a lilac trim).

Brian Rochford Australia Advertisement - Dolly November 1987
I have had a bit of a hiatus from regular posting as I've had a bit of a dry spell with the magazines I have, but thanks to a lovely person contacting me, I now have every issue besides about two from 1980 through until 1987 and I have so many issues to pore through!
So here is a little post to tide you over, with the lovely Alison Brahe modelling for Brian Rochford Australia. I have quite a few pics of Alison Brahe and I'm thinking it might be time for another Alison post soon!

No Sweat - Dolly May 1983
There is nothing like 80's sportswear! This photo spread photographed by Graham Shearer features the stunning Collette and Julie Savona modelling layers of pastel sweats in contrasting colours with gorgeous complimentary make-up by Debbie Carson to go with it. And of course when one wants to work up a sweat then it is only customary to wear a full face of make-up isn't it!

Skirting Around The Edges - Dolly June 1982
Okay so clearly I'm obsessed with 1982! The fleecy skirt looks here so remind me of Bananarama - in their early years of course, and especially when they worked with Fun Boy Three (love that band). The red ruffly top by Jonathan Elliot in the fourth picture I would love to own, and I really like the shoes by Coral Lea.

Juke-Box Hits - Dolly September 1980

Hope you enjoy this photo spread from this September 1980 issue of Dolly. It's been a while since I've posted a 1980 issue, and it's because many of the fashion editorials from this year feature blurry Picnic At Hanging Rock kind of spreads which bore me a little bit. But this one is fabulously full of colour and fun! I especially like the addition of the latest records out at the time including Mi-Sex and Michael Jackson among others.

It looks as if the girls in the first video I've included have stepped right out of the pages of this spread! They are the Moir Sisters and I just adore this performance of their song 'So Excited' on Countdown. The other clip which also reminds me of this spread is the Bananarama and Fun Boy Three song 'Ain't What You Do'.
